Update #5: Hear It Played

This is the first sound test of our M2 electric dulcimer guitar prototype — solid body, fully electric, and built to make a whole lot more noise than usual.

It has the same general feel and DAD tuning as the Cumberland River Dulcimer, but with pickups, a solid body, and a totally different kind of tone.

One of the things that surprised me most is the double string. Through an amp, it gets this natural chorus-like sound — but I’m not running it through a pedal. That’s just the strings doing their thing.

This is still a test piece, but I wanted to share it with you as we figure it out. We’ll be testing colors, pickup configurations, and a whole bunch of other details as we get closer.

If you’ve got name ideas, color suggestions, or something you’d love to see on this instrument, send them over: hey@heyinglewood.com
