She Finished This Song in 30 Minutes | Original Dulcimer Guitar Song | Claire McCarty
Share
Claire McCarty sat down with her dulcimer during one of the hardest days her family had been through.
Her grandmother had been very sick, and Claire began playing as a way to process everything she was feeling. About five minutes into writing this song, she received the call that her grandmother had passed away.
She cried, kept playing and finished the song in about 30 minutes.
The result is a simple folk story about two people who could not be more different, but remained tied together through life, love and loss.
Claire played the song on the Cumberland River Dulcimer. She says its simple, whimsical sound often inspires her writing, and it helped shape the honest sound of this performance.
We hope you’ll take a few minutes to listen.
Claire is also preparing to release her first EP in the coming months. We’re excited for you to hear what she has been working on.
