The Cumberland Chromatic River Dulcimer | Inglewood Instruments

If you've followed the journey of the Cumberland River Dulcimer line, you'll know they're built to be in one key, same as traditional lap dulcimers.

But dulcimers that feature all of the notes -- not just the ones in the key of D -- actually exist. I didn't invent them, they're called chromatic dulcimers, and they're a whole different beast.

Looking for a D minor, or a wicked blues lick? Here you go.

I'll admit, it's a bit of a head trip for me, given I've spent so many years playing the diatonic version, but it's a delightful new avenue to explore. And isn't that what playing is about... a little exploration, a little fun?
